Dog pen Church Prayer June 25, 2019
Heavenly Father, We pray that your mighty hands have removed the scales from our eyes that we may see the very marks of our assurance as Christians. We pray that the Holy Spirit has written upon our hearts and will voice our testimony about our position and the practice of our job through our mouths. We pray that our light shines brightly for all the world to see and that we may uplift, inspire, encourage, and strengthen one another as we continue to journey to and fro each day. We thank you for leading us, guiding us, keeping us, and teaching us everywhere we go. We thank you for taking us by our hands, walking with us, and even carrying us when we are too weak to walk. We thank you for this day in Jesus’ name — Amen!

Homework Assignment: Do you measure up to the marks of the Christian?
To answer this question, we must first have an understanding of what a Christian is. The great eternal truth: a Christian is one who is in Christ, has died with Him, is buried with Him, is risen with Him, and is alive unto God in Him — Rom. 6:3-11, Gal. 2:20.
The marks of the Christian is summed up by saying that, “a true Christian is one who casts themself upon the savior and trusts Him wholeheartedly to be all that He has promised to be to them as a needy sinner.” — Psalm 37:3-6; 55:22.
Making it personal: I am a Christian and, without any doubt, I am imperfect. I have heard the invitation — “O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in Him. — Psalm 34:8.
I am a Christian because I have come to Christ and found Him good beyond words, and I want to tell others about Him.
I want to say on His behalf, “Came unto me, all ye that labor and are heavily laden, and I will give you rest” — Matt. 11:28.
In this way, we love the men and women around us that we encounter, and we seek to do them good. To love someone is to seek to do them good — Mark 12:29-34.
I am a Christian because I am one beggar trying to tell another beggar where and how to find bread — the Bread of life — John 6:32-35.
I am a Christian because I struggle with my sin every day, and I sometimes lose the struggle. I haven’t lost all my selfishness, I don’t love everyone as I ought, I’m not always compassionate toward others, nor am I always thankful.
But I am brought down at the feet of God in true repentance, with a hatred for sin, and a longing after holiness and Righteousness, hope to be freed from the penalty and power of sin and the wrath of God — 15 am. 2:6-9; Psalm 91.
I measure up to the marks of the Christian because I look for salvation from none other than Christ Jesus and by Him, all that believe are justified from all things — Amen
